Yesterday I filled you in on unique spots to enjoy a craft beer in Indianapolis. Today you’ll get an inside peak at some of the best beer themed treats to enjoy while visiting Indianapolis for the Super Bowl and take home to friends and family who couldn’t make the trip. Some of my selections are made with local craft beers, others pair well with craft beer. All of them are perfect for munching on in your hotel and are carry on friendly.
Just Pop In
I love Just Pop In’s beer cheese popcorn. It tastes exactly like beer cheese soup, but without the bowl, spoon or burning your tongue. Just Pop In has teamed up with Sun King Brewing Company to create a popcorn any beer lover will crave. While it will leave you with orange fingers, it’s okay! You’ll fit right in with the rest of us Hoosiers who consume Just Pop In’s creations by the gallon tin.
222 E. Market Street – City Market
U-Relish is located in City Market (downstairs from yesterday’s featured Tomlinson Tap Room). Cara Dafforn’s line up of slow cooker meal mixes seem homey, but mention you’re a craft beer lover and you’ll see a gleam in her eye. Every one of her mixes can be made with beer! Cara has honed her mixes of grains, legumes and spices to the most amazing flavor combinations that are only enhanced by adding beer! All of her products are packaged dry and ready to take home for a taste of Indianapolis long after you left. Our favorites are Potluck and Mayor Ballard.
Traders Point Creamery
9101 Moore Rd
Zionsville, IN 46077
Beer and cheese are a perfect pair, and we had Traders Point Creamery’s spicy Fromage Blanc at our very first Girls Pint Out event with soft pretzel bites. These little crocks of creamy fresh cheese are a great snack to keep in your hotel fridge to spread on crackers for late night cravings while you’re in town. Even better is the availability! Hotels such as The Conrad Hilton and the Hilton Hotel carry Traders Point Creamery products.
Smoking Goose Meatery
407 N. Dorman St.
The Smoking Goose Meatery is an extension of Goose the Market. While it doesn’t have the small neighborhood market appeal of Goose the Market, Smoking Goose Meatery has meat. A lot of meat. Located across the street from Flat 12 Bierwerks, Smoking Goose offers artisan smoked meats and a few pantry staples. Our picks to pair with a pint next door or to keep in your hotel room with that Traders Point Creamery Fromage Blanc you snagged: Soppressata, Coppa, and Deleware Fireball salumi offerings.
Hoosier Mama Bloody Mary Mix
Available multiple locations
You can read all about our love of Hoosier Momma Bloody Mary mix here, and the Super Bowl is a perfect time to drink what has become a nationally acclaimed bloody mary in its birthplace. It’s vegan, gluten free, low sodium….who are we kidding? It is amazing and will be widely available in bars and restaurants around town during the Super Bowl to help you get over your hangover from the Rolling Stone Party. Grab a jar of mix to take home as a gift to whoever watered your plants or fed your dog while you were gone or order online, it will become your favorite mix with an IPA. Never tried a Bloody Mary with IPA before? It’s a fun new twist for us beer drinkers to keep it craft.
These locally owned businesses deserve your business while you’re visiting Indianapolis and you’ll fit right in with the cool kids – you know, those of us who live here year round.
