Illinois Girls’ Pint Out Founder
I am sitting here wondering what can I say about myself, other than I’m a happy go lucky single mom of 2 little divas, 6 and 11, who simply enjoys a nice cold one. And when I state cold one, no I’m not referring to the under hopped water that you can find in your local grocery store. I am a 32 year old woman, (wait did I just really type that, well I might as well get out of denial) who works full-time for a local government agency. I scour the states for new and hard to find tasty beverages in my spare time when I’m not running to sewing classes or piano lessons with my girls. I found myself on the craft beer lovin path due to my boyfriend (just knew a man had to be behind it somewhere), who started sharing his tasty treats from his beer event excursions. I remember the day like it was yesterday, picture it; Chicago, November of 2009, Nic brings home a 22 oz bomber of something that would change my taste and perspective of beer forever. I see the name Goose Island written in green letters and under it was Sofie. It poured so smooth into the glass, almost as if it was champagne. Then there was the first sip that made me look at him and question was this really beer because of the citrus flavors and the mere fact it actually had flavor, I was in complete denial. From then on, I was hooked, chasing after the next new taste as if I had become addicted. So for the past year and a half I have been a beer lovin mama on the move looking for other women who share my interest. Finally, after researching over and over again and so many dead ends I came across the lovely ladies of Girls Pint Out. It was Tamera Mullins who responded back to me and with her I shared my excitement of starting an Illinois Chapter of GPO. Now I am ready to rock, roll and sip with the ladies of Girls’ Pint Out, I predict great growth from the Chicago Chapter, and meeting new women who share this interest.
